South Norfolk Fourth of July Parade and Picnic in the Park

This annual event occurs every year on the Fourth of July, unless the Fourth of July is on a Sunday, in which case, the event shifts to the prior Saturday. Thousands of patriots converge on South Norfolk starting at about 8 a.m. to line up on the streets for the 10 a.m. parade that starts at South Norfolk Baptist Church, 1101 Chesapeake Ave. After the parade, everyone crowds Lakeside Park for food, music, and fun activities for young and old alike.

National Night Out

National Night Out is a community-police awareness-raising event in the United States, usually held the first Tuesday of August. This event also features food, fun, music and activities for kids. After dark, there will be a movie! Community groups and organizations are invited to join us and feature their own causes at their tables.
