We will be at the South Norfolk Community Garden, 1014 Jefferson St., on Saturday March 10 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with garden box applications. A $10 donation is requested with each application to help with garden expenses.

The boxes are 4′ x8′ and you can grow whatever you like so long as you grow organically. We are bordered along one side by wetlands and don’t want to pollute with runoff.

This year, due to issues with unclaimed boxes last year. we cannot “hold” boxes. They will be given out on an application filed first served basis.

During the Spring and Summer months we will have designated garden work days but anytime you have a little time to spare there are always weeds that need pulling around the boxes and along the fences.

If you cannot make it to the garden on the day posted you can contact me and I will get an application to you.

And the Community Garden is very child and pet friendly! So bring the family out and experience the fun!

  1. Hi, Chris –

    Thanks for writing.

You need to live in South Norfolk or Portlock to rent a garden spot, but you don’t need to be a property owner or live in South Norfolk any certain period of time.

Plots are $10 per season. Applications are available at the garden, 1014 Jefferson Street, or available for download here:

More info on the garden here:

If you have more questions, let us know!
